When you choose to stay at the Hotel Paris France during your summer vacation in the capital, you’ll find that there’s plenty to keep you active and fascinated. Not far from the hotel you can enjoy lively and interesting strolls through some of the most intriguing streets in the capital. But if walking is not your style, you can always turn to the Maison & Objet trade fair, an essential experience if you have an interest in lifestyle, decoration and design.
Treat yourself to an unusual walk through amazing streets
The City of Light is famous for its Eiffel Tower and friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere, but the capital’s vibrancy, great monuments and institutions tend to overshadow some of the more modest, but often equally appealing, attractions. For example, many picturesque, quirky and fascinating Parisian streets are completely overlooked by visitors. Yet there they are; places which take you back in time in just a few steps. The loveliest may well be the Rue Crémieux. Its cobblestoned road, painted walls, rainbow-colored facades and trompe-l'oeil frescoes may remind you a little of Portobello Road in London’s Notting Hill. But you are still in Paris, just like when you explore the 14th arrondissement’s Rue des Thermopyles, a little piece of the French countryside in the heart of Paris. You’ll be equally astonished when you find yourself amidst the greenery, beautiful houses and time lost picturesqueness of the Square des Peupliers (13th). On the other hand, the Passage Molière (3rd) offers the old-fashioned charm of small shops and modest restaurants, creating an irresistibly quaint, even poetic, appeal that contrasts delightfully with the usual Parisian grandeur. We then pass from quaint and old world to cosy and retro with the 122 metres of the Passage l'Homme (11th), where vines, campanula and glycine have colonised all the facades, as if time has stopped. It’s all a refreshing change from 21st century Paris!
The Maison & Objet trade fair, where decoration is at the forefront
From September 8th to 12th, the Maison & Objet trade fair will once again welcome visitors to the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. All those who have a passion for interior decoration will find plenty of interest, whether it’s the work of talented young creators on the rise or renowned designers whose reputations speak for them. The hottest new trends and those already firmly established can all be found here beneath the same roof, under the direction of the scenographer Elizabeth Leriche. In one area will be the Maison section, dedicated to the elements and arrangements that give elegance to an interior, while making it unique. Elsewhere you can find the Objet area, a colourful space filled with ingenious products for you and your family to marvel at.
